Adaptive & Restorative Yoga After Illness, Injury or Paralysis….

Yoga is a practice, NOT a destination particularly when it comes to healing.

In this crazy busy modern day life, the practice of yoga is about joining movement with breath, action with thought and awareness with intention to bring healing and peace to body, mind and spirit, which is  why it is a modality suited to those people wanting to recover from chronic invisible and mental illnesses.

Let me tell you how yoga can make you feel better as you take the journey from chronic pain, suffering and stress. If you have ever wondered if yoga is something you can do, or if it will be too hard It is absolutely for you and it doesn’t have to be hard! Everybody that is seeking to heal are different, they have different pain, tension and energy levels.  Adaptive yoga is a way to raise awareness levels of all the variables that I’ve mentioned. Only you can know how it feels to be in your body. This is something I absolutely know, as it’s been a 15 plus year journey to find a recovery path.


Yoga, within all styles, asks you to “start where you are”.  Adaptive yoga helps you identify where that is, which is why it’s perfect if you are considering yoga to help recovery from illness, injuries or disability. 

I would define ‘adaptive yoga’ by saying that we adapt the instruction and practice of yoga for the body in a safe and comfortable way. This style of yoga is accessible to everyone no matter where their body is in any moment.

I’ve created an adaptative & restorative approach to my yoga practice that has brought benefits to my healing of health and life and it’s why I am now bringing my approach to others. I have lived with many challenges including paralysis and that’s why I know this style and approach to yoga is so beneficial to healing.

Essential Oils; Mankinds First Real Medicine…

Across modern time, humans very often have looked for healing tools in all the wrong places. The most powerful tools  for healing are found right here on the green fields of earth! Mother Nature knows more than we humans will ever know and she provides everything we could ever need to heal, maintain and protect our health. Something synthetic, made from chemicals in a lab will never work better than what nature creates.


 Essential oils were mankind’s first medicine. I have read that the practice of using essential oils dates back to ancient Egypt and even the bible references them, particularly with the oils of frankincense, myrrh, rosemary and hyssop being used to anoint and heal the sick and wounded.
Essential oils are liquids that have been distilled from plants, seeds, bark, leaves, flowers and fruit. 
Benefits of essential oils are endless and give an abundance of therapeutic and medicinal aid. Here are a list of the benefits that I’ve come up with;

  • Essential oils contain little bubbles of oxygen (molecules) that help transport important nutrients to weakened cells. 
  • Essential oils are powerful antioxidants.  Antioxidants create unfriendly environments for free radicals.
  • Essential oils are antibacterial, antiviral and antiseptic. Essential oils have been proven to destroy bacteria and viruses and at the same time restore balance to the body. 
  • Essential oils  have the ability to pass the blood-brain barrier, meaning they can be effective for treating brain injuries and diseases like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, MS, functional neurological disorder just to name a few. This is why essential oils such as frankincense and sandalwood can help increase the amount of oxygen in the limbic system of the brain.
  • Essential oils are aromatic, so when diffused they provide air purification and remove toxins in the air. They also increase ozone and negative ions in the air that inhibits bacterial growth.
  • Essential oils help promote emotional, physical, and spiritual healing. Having diffusers running in my home I have noticed a definite rise in energy. My insomnia, fatigue and chronic illnesses have all been reduced since using the essential oils.
  • Clinical research has been shown that essential oils can quickly raise the frequency of the human body, restoring it to a normal healthy level.


There are many ways to use essential oils. One way is to use them through topical applications. On waking, I apply them to all my pulse points in the morning, and I will  reapply them multiple times throughout the day. One of my favorite essential oils is Peppermint. The peppermint plant is a hybrid of watermint and spearmint and was first described by Carl Linneaus in 1753. A high menthol content like that found in the doTERRA Peppermint essential oil distinguishes the best quality Peppermint from other products. Using topically it allows for a immediate pick up. It helps focus and concentration. Place one drop in the palm of your hand and massage into the skin then inhale for a quick pick-me-up when ever required. It promotes healthy respiratory function and clear breathing.


 Using essential oil on feet is excellent because they are an area of the body that absorbs oils fast due to the large pores. Other quick absorbing areas are behind the ears and on the wrists.

 I’ve left diffusing oils to last because simply there are so many ways to diffuse. Firstly putting a few drops on a tissue and inhaling. You can dro a few drops into hot water and breathe the vapours in. You can put oils into a electric diffuser or use a oil burner. No matter how you diffuse, they are all great ways to utilise the benefits of essential oils.

I’ve Been Gifted & Now I’m Gifting You, The Art Of Meditation….

Today I recorded my first set of healing meditations.

This has been a huge step for me, as it has put me on a platform of knowing that through mindful action I have learnt to control my inner most thoughts and it has set me on my newest path to determining a true quality of life.

Through meditation I have found the ability to control those words that nobody else can hear. By learning how to turn down or better turning off that inner voice, I’ve been able to shift not only my internal actions but also my external happenings. In doing this, I am improving my brain functions that have been severely impacted by a range of of chronic illnesses over many years.

Meditation heals and it has allowed me to go within my own self, learning how my thoughts, feelings and actions can be breathed clearly and freely without stress and judgement that the busyness of modern world gives.

Meditation changes lives and it has changed mine! It has brought me a new level of awareness and a form of gentle art that is changing the way I do things. It allows me a sense of positivity that absolutely brings me peace of mind through an internal light that has been switched on giving me so much happiness to my healing journey. This is why everyday I wake to meditation that sets the foundations to the rest of my day. To ensure my day stays as it starts I will stop for shortened meditation sessions. These shorter meditations are also great, if external stresses come flowing across life! Of course, just as I did when I awoke I also allow meditation in before I go to sleep. These moments of going inwards allows me to let go of all the daily thoughts and actions,  in readiness for my mind and body to rest.

Just Let Go Of That Rope….

Living with chronic illness, feels as like you are holding onto a rope that’s going to give way at any given moment! Everything that you know is connected to that rope and god forbid if you and it were seperated!  So if you were to let go of that rope and you and everything you had ever known suddenly went splat – what would happen! HARSH! Well, yes but I am saying it because that was me! I had been holding on to a rope for fifteen or more years thinking that it was going to save me! The tighter I held onto myself, the harder it was to actually hold on and the worse I was becoming in health in its entirety! I was not myself in any shape or form……

MY ROPE SNAPPED……was I dead, no! I fell, not from grace not in anyone’s eyes except for my own! What happened, when I fell, was the fall that I needed. It awakened me to the fact, that the rope was keeping me stuck in pain and not just physical pain, but emotional, mental and spiritual pain! If you are reading this and you’ve been in this position or perhaps you are in this position, you know that this pain ties you up in knots and creates behaviours that are less than ideal. Holding onto that rope was taking from you, all that you were, all that you are and possibly all that you could be!!!

LET GO OF THAT ROPE! I beg you, SO WHAT IF YOU FALL! Better that you fall flat on your face, than you destroy what you are and what you could be….

When you fall, you seperate yourself from that rope. You give yourself freedom, you give yourself a breath of real air that you haven’t felt for so long! You are now free to wander in search of what you need to heal truly. I ask you, after you’ve read this to take a few moments to write a list of ‘what you are holding onto’ and then respond to each one of your answers with this question, ‘ what would happen if I let it all go’? Be totally honest!

I did this and wow what I was holding onto was fucking BS – they were excuses, they were all excuses held together by fear! Simply, everything that had happened to me years prior had been squeezing me so tightly, that stress had created  a fear ball of me! That fear made me so ill and those illnesses were my rope!

The rope needed to snap, so that I could heal! I couldn’t continue to live that way! Slowly and continuously, I began to heal. I started by being able to sit, then I could stand and walk. My personal next goal  is to scream and shout my way across the globe , telling anyone who wants to listen about my glorious life – because that’s what it is! My life is no longer wrapped in bandaids, it’s now a life open and celebrating the scars being free to be me just as I am!

To each one of you, living with or in mental, physical, emotional and spiritual pain….you don’t need to live like this; PLEASE LET GO and LET YOURSELF FALL. The gentle arms of life will catch you and teach you again to sit, stand, walk and talk about being free to be you!

One Small Change Daily, Can Improve Your Life….

Hello Wednesday –  yep, well it’s actually Thursday now in Australia but due to such a tiring set of  NeuroPhysio and physical rehab sessions yesterday my #WellnessWednesday was put on hold! But, that’s okay because building wellness sometimes means taking time out ! I am on the long walk of life, which means I  concentrate on putting processes into action that will help allow me to find total body wellness freeing me from FND and so many other chronic health conditions.
So, today let me share a few tips that I’ve aligned to my physical, mental, spiritual & emotional wellness regime daily that usually take less than 10 minutes.  The most effective way to meet goals is through a series of small changes. Here are 10 that work for me;
1 – Nutritionally wise, getting sugar smart is one small process that is one massive action step.  Since removing sugar and preservatives my inflammations have reduced in big numbers and this makes recovery a forward progressing journey much more achievable.
2 – Every morning do some yoga particularly a “sun salutation” pose. It’s posture releases such a vibrancy of energy through the bidy when practiced 6 times for 10 minutes.  An even clearer energy transforms when done outdoors when able. It kets you start the day with important stretching and strengthening and seriously it just plain feels good!

3 – Easing anxiety with a Tibetan style sky gazing meditation also begins the day right but when you feel anxiousness creeping higher within you, its great to stop and simply look out the window (or look upward), relax your whole body, and let your gaze expand into the spaciousness of the sky. Again if you can do this outdoors you can achieve an even more profound healing experience. With this process,  its good to repeat the “ahhh” sound silently—it’s the most open sound you can make, and it amplifies the feeling. Let your attention go, and sit for a few minutes. Do it as many times as you need!

4 – Pkay some music that is calming to you. The body’s inner rhythms activate to the external rhythms of music, similar to when you go to the seaside and you start breathing slower and your heart rate slows down and starts moving closer to the rhythm and pace of the ocean waves. It’s the same with music, especially reggae or jazz, however I have other music genres that uplift the mind , body & soul. If you need to listen to the song on repeat – do it! 
5 – Just put down the phone and step into a quiet space and breathe. When everything is overwhelming you, the impulse to whip out the phone and scroll strikes in high levels!  It’s a impulse decision, but don’t panic—that wave is supposed to happen.  Instead of scrolling and for a faster and more focused calming of the mind – take yourself  to a quiet comfortable place, breathe naturally, and settle your attention using your powerful breath. It is a sort of meditation and with each inhale and exhale, mentally repeat the words “in” and “out.” If your mind wanders, just let go without judgment, and bring your attention back to it. Once it rolls through, you’ll see that there’s something good in its wake: silence is freedom.

6 – Do you have inspirational mentors – focus on them! To feel a deeper connection to those around you, take time each day to sit quietly and think of someone who has unconditionally supported or inspired you. Close your eyes and visualise that person behind and slightly above you. Imagine them radiating love in the form of beautiful, golden light. Then visualise someone in front of you who you want to share the light with. Let it pour down through you and bathe the person in front of you. Once practiced, this action is profoundly powerful and you will be even more grateful for there presence on your life journey.
7 – Create yourself a selflove/self kindness mindfulness intention, affirmation meditation  –  Sit quietly, breathe normally, and repeat a phrase that suits you! Things like “May I be happy, may I be peaceful, “may I be healthy” are affirmations that I may use. Whenever your attention wanders, gently let those thoughts go and come back to the  particular phrase. After repeating that phrase for yourself, offer it up to include all beings and things everywhere, saying “May all things be happy, may all things be peaceful.”


8 – Remember what you want. Sometimes we’re so distracted by illnesses and stresses, we never take time to settle down and listen to what our body, mind, and soul are telling us – I am so very guilty!  Try this: Sit ir lay in a comfortable position, settle your breath, close your eyes, and, as you breathe, mentally repeat the words “I am” for 5 minutes. Next, ask yourself “What do I want?” 2 to 4 times—don’t feel like you have to answer it, let your mind settle down and see what bubbles up. 
9 – Posture  practice starts with even just sitting up straight.  When you move from poor posture to good posture, you increase levels of energising hormones, as well as feel-good serotonin, plus you decrease the stress hormone cortisol. Stop slouching and simply sit up straight.

“Wandering Towards Wellness, Globally”

Awaking My Truest & Highest Self as ‘Harmoni Shakti’💋

The modern day world sees us all running blindly and crazily around seeking what we think is important – we are seeking what appears to be that elusive higher self! Living like this, it is not my purpose and the more i try to seek what I think is important, the more frustration begins to border insanity for mind and body!

I lived 50 years of age like this! Now, don’t get me wrong, I’ve had amazing things happen across this life and there is no way I would want to run away, release or let go of any of that!  But, I have also had abuse that nobody should ever have to deal with and after more personal stresses and worsening health conditions this year, I finally fell into such a dark depression and attempted suicide from life and the people that I love and the truest dreams and goals. But falling so hard also, allowed me to finally find the key to unlock my highest self! The callings from within me, yes from deep within me have had such an impact over my every present breath! 

Awakening to my higher self has been met through opening up some very hidden belief systems that have been comfortably released. But, it basically has allowed an eternal, conscious, and intelligent woman being found – that woman is my real self. I now feel free enough to run & splash freely within the waves of life and it is now a inseparable ray of light through the Universe and myself. 

Since having the awakening of whom I am and whom I have always been since a little girl, it has seen me change directions this last part of 2016, without thought or pondering possible repercussions. You see, finding, awakening and aligning to my truest balances within every single cell, I can now place myself into such a relaxed meditative state, even when troubling situations may come through to daily life. When this NOW occurs, my newest and truest highest self can direct the situation with new direction without thought and despite what may occur. Everyday, I journal but now my awakened self asks me to write write things down, perhaps single words, names, circumstances – I can then ask myself YES & NO questions about the issues causing friction. My body now answers with such clarity and alignment that my fearful and anxious thoughts, feelings and pain about my health, wealth and and life’s journey no longer disconnect and cause my chronic illnesses and disorders spiral like haywire into darkness. 

With this year now into the last day and the new year laying with intentions  I felt it was correct of me to see if I can help you align with your higher self too,  using purely the wisdom of your mind and body and find how you learn to recognise the true connection when you achieve it. Because you see, when you align in this way, you are forever empowered. Since being chronically ill , I knew the Universe was trying to help me awaken but, it neeeded me to unlock what I require so that my life purpose became so  clear, I could touch and taste it! Well, believe me , everyday I can NOW and it’s WHY I know I am finally on track, and allowing my truest life to begin and to embrace with a flow of grace and ease.

My higher self now, wants to be happy and to be feel connected all the time, although I may not always seem to like it. Living for ten years plus of chronic illnesses and then the 20, 30 and maybe even 40 years of abuse has lead me to bekng conditioned that suffering and hardship are normal and necessary to survive, but I now know this is not the truth. With all my highly stressed life paths, I also convinced myself to turn all of my illnesses and life events into fierce dramas to fill my days, weeks, months, and years. Now, I understand how I could never venture into my fullest and truest self and those dreams – there was always a block from closed up beliefs!


My higher self enjoys every experience that I have, I am learning and that’s even the horrible chronically debilitating health conditions but having said that, it also understands my grounded and earthly preferences and behavioral patterns need more attention particularly at certain times. I am also intimately now aware of the daily lessons given to me, so that i learn and that’s where NOW my higher self can gently push me toward the important goals needing to be actioned. This internal self of mine, holds all of my secrets, strengths and weaknesses solidly waiting for my claim, to release and let go of them, but I also know there is no hurry. I am so very aware of my eternal breath with nature, however at times it appears invisible.

The key to aligning with my higher self is now very simple because mainly because I find I align with my highest self by getting to know how my mind and body feels when my total balanced alignment is free to see and feel. By truly knowing the feelings, I can now work everyday on maintaining it by controlling the direction of my thoughts. All positive and negative bodily feelings are set in the thoughts, which I always kind of knew but I now know that my body feels as good as it can when my thoughts are in alignment with my highest self and when  my body feels damaged in any way, my  thoughts are misaligned. That is now my time to check deeply within, mastering and retriggering the alignment key to keep moving forward with health, life. I now understand that I have always had levels of connection with my highest self across my life journey when I may of felt joy, harmony, happiness, passion and peace in life, no matter how fleeting the circumstances may have been.  

So, yes I know I am in alignment when my heart feels open and free allowing my body to feel as good as it needs to be and that is when I truly know I am healing. The feelings of being aligned and awakened can feel so very different to everyone on any given day, but some how there is a sense of wellbeing and connectedness that fills my body with a spark of creation. It’s these circumstances, that allow me to do so much forward moving work to my aligned self, message, mission and purpose in life.

Now that I can wander most days being truly awakened and aligned to my higher self most of the day, I can see that the conditioning along my ancestral, cultural, and family lines have made it so very difficult to access and transcend along a strict mental and physical level to show my best and truest gift to the world. This is why my body now feels that my birth name is not my truest and chosen at any given one. My mind and body are becoming so very sensitive at determining my next connected paths are needed so that I can continue to live in such alignment with my highest most self. 

So friends and family, I wish to say goodbye to the little girl named ‘Lisa-Raie’and hello to ‘Harmoni Shakti’ who is my truest and highest version of me. She, and me as her will serve you in amazing ways, so I look forward to 2017 and those that walk with my truely aligned self taking and making impact for all that require assistance with chronically physical and mental health conditions.


Let’s wander friends and make 2017 a wonderful new chapter to the rest of our lives bringing clearance, clarity and true compassion to our truest and highest selves.

To my functional neurological disorder tribal goddesses, with my newly aligned self the campaign trail to bring a life that we love is here because I am ME and you are all you and together we are truly aligned to bring impact that has never been seen on the scale that I am created.

When Growing Pains Become Journalling Sessions Which Then Turn To Blog Posts……👣


Wow, these words talk to me, they lift me up to that mountain so high! When you awaken from darkness, what happens is that you grow and expand to a higher realm of energy that you’ve never been consciously! 

I think that’s why I’ve been able to make the steps that I have I’ve the last 24 hours. Those steps they shook me to the core, for an instant I thought that it was me moving backwards but after sitting inward I now know it’s growth with upleveling. I am so proud of myself for making it this far and I know I can make it to my destination in  health and life. 

Be BRAVE , self this is your time. Keep walking, keep talking for the world needs to hear what you have to say.
